On last Friday, Gerry and Keith motored to New Orleans to see friends and attend the Memorial Service of Dr. Bill Rueff, my dear friend who left us much to early.
Among those attending were Jerry and Linda Westmoreland from Baton Rouge, Daneta Bardlsey and Husband from Salt Lake City, UT, Kim Yuskis of Colorado and numerous friends from New Orleans including Lane LaCoy, Lanny Thomas, and Ray Crummly. Many kind words were spoken about Bill and it was a wonderful time of memories for all of us.
Gerry and Keith were house guests of Lanny Thomas and of course, the Jazzfest was going on just across the street and down a ways from Lanny's house. We had a couple of afternoon teas, on the veranda, as we listened to Joe Cocker and to the Dave Mathews Band.
Also a house guest of Mr Thomas was Tony Monze of Tampa, FL. Tony was a resident of New Orleans for many years and this artistic masks were a favorite of many people.
This was Keith first time in New Orleans and he enjoyed being the tourist and Gerry enjoyed playing tour guide.
The trip was short as there is so much to see and do in NOLA and so many friends to see. Another trip is planned for the fall when it cools down from a impending long hot summer.
